Description

ICD-9, ICD-10 based comorbidity measure derived from hospital discharge and professional billing diagnoses administrative codes. This phenotype does not reference anesthesia history and physical diagnoses or problem summary list diagnoses.

Limitation

This phenotype relies on ICD-9 & ICD-10 codes. These codes must be included in the hospital discharge or pro fee administrative billing data submitted to MPOG. This collation does not reference problem summary list diagnoses.

To be designated as having the specified comorbidity, one of the specific diagnosis codes must be attached to the procedure dated between 90 days before or 7 days after the procedure to be considered for this phenotype (please see the list of codes in the logic section).

MPOG is unable to determine if diagnosis was present on admission.

Data quality is limited to individual site documentation accuracy, completeness, and variable mapping, which is performed by each site, independently. MPOG, as the coordinating center, reviews data quality at each data upload and monthly via Data Diagnostics and Case Validation tools. This review, while thorough, may not contain all data elements relevant to this phenotype and thus should be carefully reviewed by the user.

Any patient that have the following ICD codes for pre-eclampsia will be classified as a 1 for yes. If none of the codes below are present, the patient will be classified as a 0. If there are no ICD codes, then the data will be classified as missing and reported as -999.
