Description

This phenotype determines whether the case is a liver transplant recipient using logic based upon a combination of anesthesia CPT codes, surgical CPT codes, procedure text and surgical service. This phenotype considers both actual CPT codes and predicted CPT codes (when actual CPT is missing for a case). The phenotype returns a Yes/No value code; for cases flagged as a Yes, the phenotype will also return the associated source text that triggered the Yes value.

Limitation

This phenotype may flag cancelled cases.

Data quality is limited to individual site documentation accuracy, completeness, and variable mapping, which is performed by each site, independently. MPOG, as the coordinating center, reviews data quality at each data upload and monthly via Data Diagnostics and Case Validation tools. This review, while thorough, may not contain all data elements relevant to this phenotype and thus should be carefully reviewed by the user.

Step 2. Check if the case’s Diagnosis text contains the below text. If yes, return ‘No.’ If no, proceed to step 3.

Step 3. Check the case for the following procedure text. If yes, return ‘No.’ If no, proceed to step 4.

Step 4. Check the case for the following Diagnosis text. If yes, return ‘No.’ If no, proceed to step 5.

Step 5. Check that the case has at least ONE of the following Surgical Service Concept IDs. If yes proceed to step 6. If no, return ‘No’.

Step 6. Check if the case is ASA Class 1, 2, 6 or 6E. If yes, return ‘No’. If no, proceed to step 7.

Step 7. Check cases for ANY of the following combinations professional fee billing codes. If yes, return ‘Yes.’ If no, return, ‘No.’
