Description
Returns a single value as the median for the Tidal Volume Actual (MPOG concept id: 3190) for a case, among valid tidal volumes.
Limitation
There is no age limitations for this collation, but there are bounds on valid values as described in the logic section. The number of recordings are not limited, so the mean can represent a lot of data points, or few, for a given case.
Data quality is limited to individual site documentation accuracy, completeness, and variable mapping, which is performed by each site, independently.
MPOG, as the coordinating center, reviews data quality at each data upload and monthly via Data Diagnostics and Case Validation tools. This review,
while thorough, may not contain all data elements relevant to this phenotype and thus should be carefully reviewed by the user.

Logic
This phenotype returns the Median Tidal Volume Actual (MPOG concept id: 3190) for a case, among valid tidal volumes documented between case start and case end. Case start and end are determined by the following algorithm:
- Case Start
- Patient In Room. If not available, then
- Induction End. If not available, then
- Anesthesia Start
- Case End
- Patient out of room. If not available, then
- Anesthesia End
A tidal volume is noted to be valid, if the following conditions are true:
- ETCO2 >= 5 mmHg
- Peak Inspiratory Pressure >= 5 cm H2O
- Tidal Volume Actual >= 100 mL and <=2000
- The above conditions are true for 3 consecutive minutes, following the time of measurement.
