Description

This phenotype returns the warming method assigned to a case based on collation mapping of raw text and numeric values documented within the electronic medical record. These data include AIMS variables mapped to 'Warming Method Notes' concept subset. Collation mapping is completed at the MPOG Coordinating Center.

Limitation

Limited to mapping ability to select appropriate category from written notes.

Data quality is limited to individual site documentation accuracy, completeness, and variable mapping, which is performed by each site, independently. MPOG, as the coordinating center, reviews data quality at each data upload and monthly via Data Diagnostics and Case Validation tools. This review, while thorough, may not contain all data elements relevant to this phenotype and thus should be carefully reviewed by the user.

This phenotype considers all of the individually mapped warming method notes per case within the warming method concept subset:

Patient warming method - generic (3122)
Patient warming method --generic (50138)
Warming attempts -- warm room (50320)
Warming attempts -- convective warmer (50321)
Warming attempts -- warm blankets (50322)
Warming attempts -- radiant heaters (50323)
Warming attempts -- fluid warmer (50324)
Warming attempts -- warmer or blankets location detail (50325)

If the case has multiple values in a single case the following rules are applied:

If 2, 4, 5, or 96 is included - returns 96

Else, returns 97

The phenotype describes "not active" warming as including warm blankets, fluid warmer, and warm room as defined in the Temp01 documentation.
