Description

This phenotype determines whether a case had a Cystoscopy procedure using logic based upon a combination of Anesthesia CPT codes and procedure text. Procedures such as biopsies, lithotripsies, and stent insertion/removal will be included in the cystoscopy only bucket.

Limitation

May include cancelled cases.

Relies on accurate procedure text documentation, anesthesia, and surgical CPT codes.

Data quality is limited to individual site documentation accuracy, completeness, and variable mapping, which is performed by each site, independently. MPOG, as the coordinating center, reviews data quality at each data upload and monthly via Data Diagnostics and Case Validation tools. This review, while thorough, may not contain all data elements relevant to this phenotype and thus should be carefully reviewed by the user.

Step 2. Was case classified as valid case using the Procedure Type: Intubation Only phenotype. If Yes, mark No. If No, proceed to step 3.

Step 3. Check if the case matches its Primary Surgical CPT with the list of CPT codes below. If yes, proceed to step 5. If no procedure to step 4.

Step 8. Does the case contain CPT codes other the ones listed below? If Yes, mark "Cystoscopy plus another procedure." If no, proceed to step 9.
